The AKT project is one of the Interdisciplinary Research Collaborations (IRCs) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to help identify and solve the IT problems of the future.

The AKT consortium consists of academic partners from five premier British universities: Southampton, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Sheffield and The Open University.

As well as the academic expertise, AKT benefits from a close relationship with a number of industrial collaborators, who are increasingly aware of the difficulties of knowledge management.
